CLIQNEWS · YOUR PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

Your information deserves care. Here is what we collect, why we use it and how you can make choices.

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Scope and contact

This policy describes how CliqNews handles personal information through this website, our reader subscription form and our contact form. It covers our own services, not the independent websites we link to. For privacy questions, access requests, corrections, deletion or unsubscribe requests, email contact@cliqnews.com. Our contact location is Canada.

Information you provide

When you join our reader community, we store your email address, selected language, consent and subscription record. When you contact us, we store your name, email address and message so the editorial team can review your enquiry. Please provide only information relevant to your request and avoid sending sensitive personal information through these forms.

Staff accounts use sign-in information and profile details, such as a display name and preferred language. Editorial permissions are managed separately from reader subscriptions. A reader subscription does not create a staff account or give access to the editorial desk.

Browser storage and technical processing

Essential browser storage remembers your language, light or dark theme, cookie choice and, where applicable, staff sign-in session. Temporary session storage also remembers when you close the reader invitation, so it does not repeatedly interrupt the same browsing session.

Our forms use server-side submission counters to reduce abuse. Hosting and service providers may process technical information needed to deliver the website, secure requests and diagnose failures. No optional analytics or advertising tracking service is currently installed; accepting optional cookies does not itself activate a tracker.

How we use information

We use reader details to maintain the subscription list and record permission to send CliqNews emails. We use contact details to review messages, respond where appropriate, investigate corrections and handle enquiries. Account information supports staff authentication and authorised editorial work. Technical information helps keep the service functioning and protect it from misuse.

We do not sell personal information. Submitting a contact message does not subscribe you to marketing emails. A saved reader subscription does not guarantee that an email edition has been sent or that messages will arrive at a particular frequency.

Service providers and external links

We rely on hosting, authentication and data-storage services to operate the site. Information may be processed by these providers as needed to deliver those services, potentially outside your province or country. We may disclose information where required by applicable law or necessary to address misuse, protect rights or respond to a valid legal request.

Articles link to original publishers, and our social icons link to Instagram, X and Facebook. Those services have their own privacy policies and may collect information when you visit them. We cannot control their processing. External links are not a promise about another organisation’s privacy practices.

Retention and security

We retain subscription and contact records while needed for the purposes described here, subject to deletion requests and any applicable legal requirements. This website does not currently publish a fixed automatic deletion schedule. You can ask us to review or delete information associated with your email address.

Access to reader records and messages is restricted to authorised editorial administration. We use access controls and abuse prevention, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Avoid sending passwords, payment details, identity documents or confidential source material through the contact form.

Your choices and requests

You can read CliqNews without joining the reader list. You can reject optional cookies and reopen Cookie preferences in the footer at any time. To unsubscribe, request access to your information, correct it or ask for deletion, contact contact@cliqnews.com using the email address concerned. We may ask for proportionate verification before disclosing or changing a record.

Your rights depend on the privacy laws that apply to your circumstances. If you are dissatisfied with our handling of a privacy question, you may contact the privacy regulator responsible for your jurisdiction. We do not require you to accept optional tracking to access editorial content.

Children and policy changes

Our reader forms are not designed to collect sensitive information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information can contact us to request review and removal. We may update this policy as our services change; the date above identifies this version. Material changes should be reflected here before new uses of personal information begin.
